Welcome to Saturday Morning Workshops!  Having enjoyed a life long love affair with photography, I understand that you don't have to be a professional photographer or even aspire to be one to want to make better images.  After years of people asking, we finally decided this would be the right time to do something I've always wanted to do and that's share some of the knowledge I've gathered over a 30+ year career.  Saturday Morning Workshops is dedicated to taking the guess work out of getting better images whether you're on vacation, or home for the holidays. - David Lee, Master Photographer

Class size is limited to 10 people and includes coffee & treats.  Bring your camera and your questions because we'll cover a different set of topics at each class but there's also question & answer time.  Better still get your questions put right into the class program by sending them in advance.  David will pick some of the most commonly asked e-mail questions and included them in the next class.   Here's what's coming up....

Camera Basics   is for beginners or anyone who wants a better understanding of their camera.  We'll cover topics that can apply to any camera from the $99 point and shoot to cameras costing several thousand dollars.  What happens when you set the camera on auto, program, running man, etc.  What does the camera do and what does it expect you to do.  What about flash, tripods, image security & back up.  How to hold your camera, using support and how to know when to do which (hint...it's a really simple formula).  When to use a flash, what your flash will do and what it won't do.  Get comfortable with F-stops, shutter speeds and understand how they work together in different settings.  What is depth of field, selective focus and how do different lenses effect the image.  A good basic understanding of your camera will help you avoid the most common mistakes.  Why shoot 60 shots of the same thing and hope for the best when you can get it right the first time by understanding your camera? Camera Basics is offered on a Saturday morning 9:30 to Noon.  Class size is limited to 10people.  Price is $99 (sign up before January 15th and take $20 off)

Beyond the Camera - it's been said the most important photography tool you'll ever own is not between your hands but between your ears.  In this segment we go beyond the basic camera and put emphasis on the mental aspect of creating the image.  Topics covered will be composition (rule of thirds, negative space, line and flow, forced perspective and more), understanding light (flat light, cross light, multiple light sources, reflectors, timing, etc), Shooting action, close ups, panoramas architecture and people.  When you understand the psychology of viewing, you'll make better images.    Beyond The Camera is on Saturday mornings 9:30 to Noon.  Class size is limited to 10 people and the price is just $99.  Sign up before  January 15th and take $20 off).

Post Production  - Now that you've learned to get it right in the camera we can really have some fun with all the possibilities afterwards.  Welcome to "post production" where we take a good idea and make it better or take a great shot and explore all the possibilities.  This segment concentrates on working with your digital file in Adobe Photoshop CS3.  Learn to create the "slimline panorama", Why we shoot in color and convert to black & white, use of texture overlays, basic image enhancement from getting rid of that thing in the corner to proper color balance.  Other topics include:  Mouse or pen, archiving your images, output (printing video, etc) and using your images creatively.  Post Production is taught on a Saturday morning from 9:30-noon.  Class size is limited to 10 and a basic understanding of windows based computers is required (how to launch your program, save a file, you know...the basics).  The  cost is just $99...sign up before January 15th and get $20 off.
